Staff Lodge No Longer Serves Food
Next on Aspro's hit-list is the staff lodge. Previously serving hot/cold meals to staff during their breaks, food is no-longer served there apart from the remaining drink/sweet vending machines - that's healthy! Staff are now expected to bring their own food to work, but are still able to use the lodge during their break, albeit just a room. 15/06/2009
Final Management Structure Revealed
Not as harsh as originally planned, but here's the final structure as set out by Aspro Ocio last week that came into effect today.
Park Director - John Doona
Simon Phillips - Operations Manager
Ben Lewis - Assistant Operations Manager
Caroline Ashton - Visitor Services & Human Resources Manager
Stephanie Churchard - Marketing Manager
TBA - Commercial Manager
Clare Evans - Assistant Retail Manager
Matt Davies - Assistant Catering Manager
Alan George - Finance Officer
Matt Baker - Stores Officer
Emma Owen - Canaston Bowl Manager
The following 7 people were either unsuccessful in their application for one of the new positions or accepted redundancy, Richard Drummond, Trevor Clewer, Gareth Owen, Kate Phillips, Sandra Hine, Mark Williams and Norma Tribe. On a personal level I want to point out how much of a good job all of these people did during their time at Oakwood, and I wish all of them the best for the future. But at the end of the day Aspro have made some substantial changes over the last few months and it's clear to say - Oakwood will never be the same again. 01/06/2009
Working For The Devil
After talking to several past season employees who've returned to work at Oakwood this season, it's clear that things have changed, and not for the better. The majority said that the impending management restructure was their biggest concern particularly Richard Drummond's (HR Manager) future. One employee even described this season as "it's like working for the devil". Happy employees make for a happy park, it was only a few years ago that Oakwood's staff won the award for 'The Best Theme Park Staff' from the Roller coaster Club of Great Britain. 25/05/2009 UPDATE - Richard Drummond has been unsuccessful in his application for VS/HR Manager - there's going to be a hellova lot of backlash.
Associating With The Lowest Of Lows
A recent PR update on Facebook by Oakwood features some photos of a relatively unknown actor from a relatively sh*t show. Let's increase the social status of Oakwood, not flush it down the toilet. 25/05/2009
2009 News Roundup - New Rides Postponed & Prices Go Up
Aspro Ocio, Oakwood Theme Park's new owners have set of another bombshell prior to the season. Firstly the new rides previously scheduled for installation this year have been postponed at best. All entry prices have also risen with the standard entry price rising by £2 to £16.95 for anyone over the age of 9. As much as I love the park, it's going to be interesting to see how people respond to this price hike when the season begins. Opening times during August are going to be extended by one hour to 6pm, no offence but is there really any point in one extra hour - make it two tll 7pm! 05/03/2009
