Speed without a doubt is one of the best steel roller coasters in the world, the ride truly does thrill from start to finish. Announced in 2004, Speed was to be Oakwood's very first intense steel roller coaster and become the steepest roller coaster in the UK. Opening on April the 13th 2006, Speed so far has thrilled hundreds of people from around the UK and people from as far away as the USA who flew in especially to ride Speed. Speed begins with a vertical lift hill which lifts you up 36m tower before plummeting you down at 35m drop at an incline of 97° - the steepest in the UK. Speed at Oakwood Theme Park also features a -1.3G camel hump creating a large amount of airtime before your photo is taken! The car then swings into the over banked turn when your feet become higher up in the air than your head, followed by a vertical loop that leads into the mid-ride break run. The barrel-roll is also something to look forward to as you're flipped 360° to the right before speeding into the 4.5G downward helix. Speed is a revolutionary ride and is one not to be missed on any trip to Oakwood Theme Park. |
